Lo & Behold Blowout Show

Please join us for an early show this evening at Low & Behold (Jos Campau accross from Jets) in Hamtramck. Our good friend Raphael will be performing as Sail at 7:30 with the whale to follow at 8:30. This will be the closest thing to a house show we've played in some time, so we're very excited. BYOB and all that good stuff, and you'll have the rest of the night to hit your Blowout destinations. Start the night right!

Hybrid Moments 25 February 2012

We are very excited (and also very sad) to be playing the last show at Hybrid Moments in Ferndale this Saturday. We've always had a special affection for this space as its proprietor John has been more than supportive of all local talent, offering up his shop for intimate house-like shows and retail space for the area's many DIY labels/artists. There is no other store quite like this in the area and we are sad to see it go- but we do have faith that John may be back some day, surely offering the same support and enthusiasm he has these past couple of years.
To celebrate this occasion we'll have a very unique release: We've taken live recordings of two of our newer songs, Lovesongs & Bailing, and created nine cassingles. Each side will end with a modular synth piece specific to each tape (18 in all). Each cassette is unique, 9 copies. We'll also have more CDr copies of the December release, 'A Child's Christmas in Wayne'

Merry Christmas

In the Spirit of Christmas we've compiled a short holiday cassette- Six vignettes, moving quickly like ghosts through a winter's night. These pieces were culled from a live session at Lo & Behold in Hamtramck the second week of December. Classic Whale, instrumental and unforgiving, limited in number and handed out to friends.
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.

Cassette Release
We have a new cassette available of material recorded in December 2010 and January 2011: Spanish Lion, Invisible Cities, & October. Each cassette comes halfway played so it is up to the listerner to rewind and decide which side they'll listen to first= no A side or B side distinctions. This release is limited to 24, 12 of which are already gone. Available at UHF, People's Records, the Hamtramck Hoard House, and Lo & Behold Publications.

Ypsilanti!!
City Center, Euonym, Mother Whale, Sail
26 January 2011
$5 Doors at 9
Woodruffs
36 East Cross Street
Ypsilanti
This will be our first show since August and we'll have a new cassette available to celebrate. The release consists of three songs: Spanish Lion, Invisible Cities, and October. The cassettes will come half played, so it is up to listener to rewind a side, avoiding any A Side, B Side classifications. This tape is our experience as a collective, the tundra we've swam and the dreams we're dreaming.
The last time we played in Ypsilanti was in a garage with a band called Rah Dunes from San Francisco. The show was shut down about 10 minutes into our set- our guests from out west had to break down their stacks of modular gear (which they'd already set up) and haul it to a nearby house. It was hot, humid, and the show went very late but everything ended well and no one got in trouble. Regardless, we're happy to be in Ypsilanti again and look forward to another night of exquisite music.

Mother is Waking
When the rabbitt spoke, to his mother’s joke
“The fields have grown so flacid
The sheath cut my cheeks, too often & too placid.”
And the mother said, to her porpoise dead
“The mountains have sunk to the ground
And I have decapitated you from your crown.”
Turtle sprang from relief, the shells to his feet
He sang, and he rose, and he sighed
“Nocturne wheel of black pitch, reside.”
